 Financial FAQs

  • All St. Alban’s Episcopal Church and St. Alban’s Preschool are one community, with two separate budgets. Saint Alban’s Episcopal Church receives almost all of its funds through the generous gifts of our parishioners, including pledges, money in the collection plate, and special fundraising. But the most significant source, by far, is parishioner pledges.

  • A pledge is an intention to give a specified amount of money to the church in a given year. Pledges are gathered in the fall pledge campaign, and these commitments to give in the coming year help us build a predictable budget. A pledge can always be altered at any point should one’s life circumstances change, or for any reason.

  • A pledge helps St. Alban’s plan and keep to its budget, because we know what resources to expect. More importantly, a pledge is a spiritual practice. When we pledge, we acknowledge that everything we have is a gift from God. And in response to God’s generosity, we give a portion back to God. In particular, proportional giving (giving a percentage of one’s income) has for thousands of years been a way to give thanks to God by giving of our “first fruits” and not just our leftovers. The standard for Christian giving is the tithe: 10% of one’s income. The tithe is a challenge for anyone, but most who practice it find that it unlocks many blessings for the giver. Your pledge to support St. Alban’s may be made by submitting a pledge form.

  • Yes.

  • St. Alban’s, like all parishes in the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona, gives 16.9% of our income to the diocese for mission work in our state and beyond.

  • Our annual budget is built over months through the work of our Treasurer, Finance Committee, staff, and Vestry. The Vestry passes a final budget, and it is shared with the parish at the annual meeting in January.

  • Feel free to call the Church Office to speak to our Rector or to be connected with our Treasurer.

Our Legacy Circle

We invite you to join St. Alban’s Legacy Circle, a family of faithful Christians who wish to remember our church in their wills. The Legacy Circle exists not only to encourage bequests to the church to perpetuate our ministries from generation to generation, but also to encourage all parishioners to have an up-to-date will, which is one of the greatest gifts we can give our loved ones.

While we cannot give tax or legal advice, we will provide eminently qualified attorneys, accountants, and appraisers through the Episcopal Church Foundation. Just contact the Church Office and we can facilitate the call. We can also provide you copies of our endowment policy that spells out in specific terms how the funds will be prudently spent.

We can provide you more information on the following ways to give a planned gift.

  • A Bequest in a Will (perhaps the easiest and the most common way)

  • Life Income Gifts

  • Gifts of Real Estate, Appreciated Property, and Tangible Personal Property

  • Gifts of Life Insurance

Time and Talent

The goal of our stewardship ministry is to help God’s people grow in their relationship with Jesus through the use of the time, talents and finances God has entrusted to them.

As disciples (followers) of Christ we are to model our life on his, by being present to one another and sharing with the community the gifts we were given by the Holy Spirit. We all are graced with different gifts: leading prayer, ushering, teaching, singing, playing handbells, or cooking.

Also, some of us have the gift of seeing the needs of the community and energizing others to meet those needs. At St. Alban’s we value all these gifts of the Spirit and are always happy to make sure anyone can find creative ways to express them.

We invite you to worship with us! Services are Sundays at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. and Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.
