Financial FAQs
-
St. Alban's Church and Preschool operate as one community with separate budgets. The church relies primarily on parishioner pledges, which provide the foundation of our funding. Additional support comes through Sunday offerings, special donations, and occasional fundraising events. Your consistent financial support allows us to effectively plan and sustain our ministries throughout the year.
-
A pledge is your commitment to financially support St. Alban's with a specific amount during the year. Each fall, we invite members to make these commitments, which allow us to create a reliable budget and plan our ministries with confidence. We understand that circumstances change - pledges can always be adjusted if your situation shifts. Your consistent support, at any level, helps sustain our church's mission and ministry.
-
Pledging serves both practical and spiritual purposes. It allows St. Alban's to create reliable budgets, while also acknowledging that all we have comes from God. Many find that committing to proportional giving (a percentage of income) transforms their relationship with money and deepens their faith. While the biblical standard is a tithe (10%), any intentional, regular giving cultivates gratitude and strengthens our community. To make a pledge, simply submit a form through our website or church office.

Yes, St. Alban's maintains an endowment fund that helps secure our long-term financial stability. This fund is carefully managed to support special projects, capital improvements, and ensure the continuation of our ministries for future generations. Members can contribute to the endowment through planned giving, bequests, or special donations. For more information about the endowment or how to include St. Alban's in your estate planning, please contact the church office.
-
St. Alban's contributes 16.9% of our income to the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona. This diocesan assessment supports mission work throughout our state and beyond, connecting us to the wider Episcopal Church community. This shared commitment allows our parish to participate in ministry initiatives that extend far beyond what we could accomplish alone.
-
Financial stewardship at St. Alban's follows a thoughtful process. Our Treasurer and Finance Committee work with staff to develop our annual budget, which the Vestry (our elected parish leadership board) reviews and approves. The final budget is then presented to the entire congregation at our January annual meeting, ensuring transparency in how your contributions support our ministries.

For any questions not covered here, please contact our Church Office. Our staff will connect you with Mother Lainie (our Rector) or our Treasurer, who can provide guidance on pledging, giving options, or any other financial matters.

Stewardship: Sharing Our Gifts
At St. Alban's, stewardship means growing in faith by thoughtfully sharing our time, talents, and treasure. Following Christ's example, we offer ourselves in service to God and one another.
Every member brings unique spiritual gifts to our community - whether leading prayer, ushering, teaching, singing, playing handbells, cooking, or identifying community needs. When shared generously, these diverse talents reveal the Holy Spirit working among us.
We invite you to discover how your unique gifts might strengthen our parish family. Begin by joining us for worship on Sundays (8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.) or Wednesdays (10:00 a.m.), then explore the many ways to connect and serve.
