Mtr. Lainie’s Musings

Dear Ones of St Alban’s,

This week begins a weekly reflection called Mtr Lainie’s Musings about the Holy Spirit's work in us and our community. I will also highlight important occasions on our Parish Calendar. These are my Musings today:

1) I want to call your attention to a very important parish event: our Annual Gathering (Meeting) on Sunday, February 2.  During this Gathering, I will share the leadership's Vision for St Alban's to Thrive in 2025. Also, the Parish will elect new members for our leadership team - The Vestry - and highlight the Ministries of St Alban's, both currently and in this year ahead. Please make every effort to join this crucial Gathering

I am aware that in the past, St Alban's has joined both worship services together at 9 AM, with the Meeting following. I am modifying this pattern: On February 2, worship services will remain at 8 and 10 AM with the Annual Gathering at 11:30 AM. Thanks to our Hospitality Team, we will have appetizers to keep our brains working well for voting and needed discussions 😄.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience this will pose for our 8 AM worshippers to return at 11:30. Yet, this is an important decision in keeping with our Value of Hospitality. We want to make it easy for visitors and newcomers to know when to show up for worship services, instead of coming in at 10 AM and finding the meeting started an hour earlier.

2) Additionally, in this email you will find attached the Announcements AND a photo of the Praying Our Days book I mentioned when we renewed Baptismal Vows last Sunday (Such a FUN time for all!). On page 33 of the book, is a short Thanksgiving for Baptism that I include in my regular spiritual practices. Here's the Prayer:

Blessed are you, Holy and Living God. Through Baptism you have made me

a living member of Christ's risen body and called me to share in His

Eternal priesthood. May your Spirit continue to form Christ in me

And make me, in word and example, a minister of His reconciling Love.

This I pray in the One in whom you have reconciled all things to Yourself. Amen.
