Dear Ones of St Albans,

As I write this, I am preparing to leave for Phoenix. This weekend I (and our parish) will be celebrating with David, Margaret, and family/friends his ordination to the Holy Order of the Diaconate! I remember so well the feeling of exuberance and excitement the day of my Ordination. This joyous memory will be seared into David's mind forever. 

Even as we celebrate this holy event, the paradox is that God's people in the LA Basin are devastated. Let us also make room to hold in our hearts those who must deal with horrific losses from these wildfires. They, too, will have a memory seared into their minds forever ... The months and years of rebuilding and restarting life ahead are unfathomable. 

On Sunday, let us celebrate David and Margaret for this Dream Come True. At the same time, let us do something to bring relief to Fire Victims. Episcopal Relief & Development is coordinating with the Diocese of Los Angeles to help our brothers and sisters in So California.
